VI. - The Lovers

The Lovers

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve stand on either side of the image, caught between innocence and awakening. Eve has already handed the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge to Adam, but he has not yet bitten into it. Behind Adam is the Tree of Life, with flames leaping from it, and behind Eve is the Tree of Knowledge, around which the serpent, symbolizing temptation, is coiled. Above them, Archangel Raphael, the guardian angel of lovers, raises his hand in blessing. In the background, a volcano is about to erupt, emerging from the mist. This card is full of contrasts: male and female, innocence and sin, heaven and earth.
